In a show of unity, a crowd of nearly 200 people gathered on a beautiful spring afternoon, to march from the former predominantly white school at Winyah Auditorium, to the former predominantly black school at Howard High School in Georgetown, South Carolina.

The Melting Pot March was the brainchild of the Georgetown Unity Alliance, whose mission is to be a spark in creating a sense of community within Georgetown county and the surrounding region.

“Every one of you is the catalyst for change,” Councilor Al Joseph told the crowd. “If this helps to start a conversation, then it is a success.”
